Rev. Julián Guzmán

Our Director, Rev. Julián Guzmán is an ordained minister of Church of God-Anderson, IN in Michigan. He has held many leadership positions in the church; including the elected bishop overseeing Hispanic congregations in four states. He was a geologist in the Dominican Republic and a seasoned businessman in the construction and insurance industries in Michigan. He has two Master of Arts degrees in ministry fields from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary/Cornerstone University and is a Doctor of Ministry candidate at Western Theological Seminary. He was part of the pilot program for what became the Center, where he revealed his gifts for bringing conversations about practical church matters to a spiritual level. He brings to the Center a passion for collaboration, education, organization and planning, as well as a deep understanding of the joys and challenges of urban ministry.

Rev. Dorothy Jenkins

Rev. Dorothy Jenkins has participated in almost every program GOH offers. She was in the first cohort of Leading Community Ministry, and has served as a Teaching Assistant every year since. Her church has been a Family Leadership Initiative site, and she was part of the pilot program for what became the Center. So, it makes sense that we’ve made it official and brought her on staff. She is the Operations Manager at the Center (which makes her the heart and soul of the place, as well as the smiling face you see when you come in during the day). Even after all this, she isn’t finished with her education: she’s pursuing a Doctorate in Biblical Studies at Jacksonville Theological Seminary.

Rev. Lorenzo Miguel

Rev. Lorenzo Miguel was with Gatherings of Hope before it was a twinkle in anyone’s eye. He was a big part of the success of the 2007 Kent County Congregations Study, making sure that Hispanic churches and pastors were well-represented. Once GOH formed, he was instrumental in connecting pastors with its educational and ministry opportunities. He was in the first cohort of the Hispanic Ministry Certificate, and is continuing his education, pursuing a Master’s in Pastoral Care at Calvin Theological Seminary. As a Resource Liaison, he provides support services to pastors who are part of all our ministry learning experiences. We’re thrilled to have him on board at the Center.
